Bakersfield?? Why?? - May 2nd.

As we drove north we went back into the desert. The Mojave Desert. There are different rock formations and a little different vegetation than other desert areas of California. They all have some beauty if you look for it.

Joshua Trees all around.

We really didn't know they were Joshua Trees until we looked them up. They are very unique.

This say Pinon Hills so we thought maybe the trees were Pinon Trees.

All that's left from previous fires.

Mojave - Space Ship One - This is where they land the shuttle when it's raining in Florida.

It's also used as a parking lot for planes.

Not sure what they are waiting for but waiting is what they are doing.

Always wondered where the road to nowhere was.

Simple beauty.

Another cool fruit stand out in the middle of nowhere.

So on we went and we stayed in Bakersfield. We finally found a Date Shake in a stand next to the park. We had heard about milk shakes with dates but never found one. Glad we did before we leave the land of fruits and nuts.
