Stuff & A Different Duck - April 21, 2013

It was time for fellow camphosts, Brenda and Jerry, to take their brand new Phaeton on the road toward home. We enjoyed getting to know them and look forward to seeing them again.

They even travel with a scooter. (Don't give Holly any ideas)

So this is our new friend. A duck of a different color.

He hangs with the Mallards but we're not too sure he is one.

This dude has to negotiate the 20 degree (or more) banks of the amphitheater.

Next door, at the Roadrunner Club, they had a "meetin'" and it looks like everyone came out.

Our friend, the different duck, has a great pond to hang out in.
Next to the golf proshop is a cactus that we have been watching. It has had blooms developing and today is the day they popped open. These cacti blooms only last 24 hours so it was a special event to have been around for it. Absolutely beautiful!!

There are a lot of other cacti around the place too.

Putting green and driving range.

Veranda on the proshop.

Ocotillo blooming.

And some sort of cactus.

Holly's dream assortment.

The carts are ready.

And our little trailer is ready.

Friday night included another event at the campground amphitheater. It was called The Sundowner. It's a fund raiser for the Borrego Chamber of Commerce. Our campground owner/manager, Dan, is the President of the Chamber and it was his turn to host the event. About 175 people attended the event which included live entertainment and a raffle of items donated by chamber members. Dan made chili for 150 the previous night and today. Holly helped cut stuff up on Thursday night and Friday morning. It was GREAT Chili!!

Along with the chili they had Kielbasa.

The raffle started with a host of cool stuff from local merchants. We entered a few times.

And I WON!!!! A print from their art festival of 2005.

WINNER!! Again. I won another print. Same one so I shared it with our friends Ken & Lynn.
We helped set up the tables, washed the chairs and tried to find tablecloths in the storage room.

The Palo Verde trees just keep blooming.

One of the 3 spas around the pool.

Found the tablecloth.

One of Holly's friends. Where's Waldo?

There he is.

Singing a happy song.
And doves all around. They make such a nice sound.

Come to find out the lighter colored ones are not native. They come from South America

One of the duties? Yes, drain the bosses motorhome sewer.

A guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do.

But I had an able bodied assistant. Nice job!!
