Sunday - February 10. Touring Phoenix

Our back door view with snowy peaks in the distance
Sunday - February 10.  After having a cold wet and cloudy day, the skies cleared to unveil SNOW in the mountains. It is still pretty chilly by Phoenix standards and will only get to 57 today. But sunny. That's a good thing.

Even the dump has pretty colors on the entrance

Palm lined streets
We took the day to play tourist and see the downtown Phoenix area. It isn't a very large core downtown but it is much nicer than the last time either of us was here in the 70's.  It is very clean with lots of contemporary buildings.  All the state and county buildings are here.  There weren't many people walking around downtown on Sunday but I think they all went to Glendale to the Chocolate festival.

They even grow bushes in the park areas.

We came across this building with things on display that looked like maybe a museum to mining history but we never saw a sign.

Cool mural of a TerX Titan

The executive wing of the state capital

Capital grounds

Capital Dome

Nice part of the skyline

Reminds me of downtown Spokane

Must have a lot of people working in these towers that need to get together.
See the walkway hanging between the buildings?

A small area of downtown is serviced by electric streetcars.

The ballpark with the removable lid

Art (or maybe Joe)

Unique facade and tarp roof.  It looks like the bldg is made of copper.

Colorful house in the downtown area

Appropriate name for store where you shop with kids :-)

Downtown Glendale has colorful hydrants.

Chocolate Festival in historic downtown Glendale.

Remember when these tents were in the Pearl District in Portland?

Driving into Fountain Hills from Scottsdale on Shea Blvd.  Lovely view.

Quite a bit of snow on those mountains.  I believe that is where Payson is located.
