March 11th The Desert Museum - Tucson

This post is not only the Desert Museum, but also a few pictures from our RV Park.  When Holly was on a walk, she passed this park model and ended up chatting with the owner (surprise, surprise!).  The lady is from LaPine, OR but spends summers in Longview, WA.  It turns out that she is "the" realtor in the park who has 48 listings of park models for sale.  She took me through her place and as she said, "I'm from Oregon so I like wood."  Her sunken livingroom had knotty pine walls.  It was the cutest little place and she was a nice lady.  She had a picture on her wall exactly like one my dad had and she had a Christmas cactus that her mom's (like I have) and hers is 50 years old (as mine probably is as well).

This is a street in Tucson Estates where Holly lived in the early 70's.

A view from the Desert Museum

The raptor free flight was the highlight of our visit.

Two museum employees who narrated the free flight of the raptors.

I "think" this is a paragrin falcon.

These falcons would fly over our heads - almost touching our hair!

A barn owl (Not sure if it's a snowy barn owl or just a barn owl)

Don't you love this shot of his taking off????

The back of a shirt of one of the onlookers.  I took this picture for my son, James, who has completely gutted a VW van and is painting, repairing, and completely restoring it.

This could be the Harris Hawk.

We saw how he uses his tail as a rudder.

I love this pic of the Harris Hawk!

Amazing how they can sit on the tops of the Saguaros.

No wonder I had to search and search for the bathroom.  It was hidden underground!

Cholla cactus and it's skeleton.

In the aviary, a bird rests on the fishhook barrel cactus.

A unique bird in the aviary.  Wish I had written down what kind :-(

Here are two lovebirds kissing in the aviary.  Their names are Kirt & Holly!

Desert flowers are starting to bloom.

This is my "laundry wagon."  I hung sheets on the line and do they smell fresh!!!!
(You can take the girl out of the country... but you can't take the country out of the girl)

This looks like turquoise but it's copper.  Several rocks like these are displayed outside the Desert Museum entrance.

Rincon West RV Park entrance in sunset.

One of the many displays of the Garden Railway setup at the entrance of our park.
(This is a diner, where rock n' roll music is playing and people are sitting inside)

Another night shot of the train setup.

You can push buttons all around the tracks to hear music and sounds of all kinds.
