March 5, 2013

Fountain Hills has a street named Avenue of the Fountains. There are several fountains along the avenue leading to the big one in the park. This is just one of many.

We came across this condo that is for sale and right across the street from our friends Diane and Tom. Always looking at real estate.

We had the pleasure of joining our friends for one last dinner before we leave for Tucson. It was simply great to be with them off and on this month.

Dick & Diane

Tom & Red
Dick & Diane bought a house in town and are going through a serious remodel. Dick's portion of the remodel includes this 8 car garage. We think it's more like a 1 car garage and storage for 7 garages full of "stuff." It's really going to be a nice home. The plan is to move in April 30th.

Dick is the proud owner of some unique stuff.

Stuff you won't find down at WalMart.

Diane's part of the remodel. A beautiful Arizona room. Just off her 8 car closet!

Nice patio next to the Arizona room just outside the family room.

Cool outdoor stuff.

Even the ceilings were raised.

And a new roof line. Southwest style ready for the stucco.

Carved out of a huge log.
We went to a gem and mineral show here at the Fountainn Hills Community Center. A very nice facility.
Entrance to the show.

Holly bought some items from this girl.  She and Holly dug through her big box of items to find the good stuff :-)

Outside of the library.

This was our favorite - see picture below!  We hate wind too!

You can almost see the wind.

Hard to read but it says UFO Conference. It was an international conference at the casino. Didn't see Spock.

Look closely. That's a coyote at our back door!!  He was slowly strolling along.
Holly's green thumb has brought a new bloom to the orchid she got from Justin and Shondra last year for Mothers' Day.
(I never had an orchid that lasted long enough to re-bloom.)

A better picture of our friendly coyote.
We pulled out of Fountain Hills on Sunday, the 3rd., and headed to Tucson. Along the way we pulled into Casa Grande.

Picacho Peak - between Phoenix and Tucson.

Our friend Dick loves GTO's so we added this when we saw it at our stop for gas.

About 20 miles north of Tucson at Picacho Peak.  We're always checking out RV Resorts.

Hard to see but there are old airplanes parked in the desert.

Our scenery between Phoenix and Tucson.

This is the name of the place where those old planes are parked in the desert.

The skyline of Tucson.

On the corner of Mission and Ajo there are these rocks with carvings.  We haven't learned what it's all about.
It's the corner where we turn to our RV Resort.

There is a railroad garden set up in front of the Rec Hall at our resort.  The details are absolutely incredible.  There are so many moving parts and miniature scenes.  I wish I could post all of the many pictures I took.
This ferris wheel and merry-go-round is like the one Holly's dad built years ago.

I'm not sure how many trains were running and crossing each other.  The men running them had remote controls and were like kids in a candy store.

A closer look at the merry-go-round & ferris wheel.

Holly liked this cool bike.

Famous A-Mountain in Tucson.
Never heard of Whataburger.  Have you?

Some of the potters and ceramic students made this, which stands outside the studio in our park.

As you're leaving our park (Trains on the Right)
Many palm trees are very brown.  We sure hope they "come back" after the cold winter they had.

Shuffleboard, anyone?  They even compete with other parks and win gold medals.

We have a lovely pool.  The chairs even have cushy cushions!

The sewing, quilting and crafts room.

Driving down Kinney Road.

You can no longer see any part of Old Tucson set (where movies are made) without paying first :-(

The back side of the Tucson Mountains.

Gates Pass (at the end of Speedway before winding down to the Avra Valley.

At Gates Pass

Leaving Gates Pass and heading down to Tucson.

An oldie but goodie. (Marque)

We learned a new sport. Bocce Ball. Really fun!!
The two guys on the left are our teachers.  We played two games against them.

Cleaning the tracks in the morning.

One of the many displays in front of one of the park models in our park.

Mural in downtown Tucson.

The same narrow, low tunnel leaving downtown Tucson on 6th Avenue.
It's been here forever.  No motorhome would make it through here.

Unusual building structure at Univ of AZ Medical School.
Holly used to work here - in the Physiology Dept.

Eegee's has been here forever!  Sort of like Gelato.

Airplane graveyard.

I love these SW churches.

Never heard of these beans.  Have you?
What can I say? Food stamps??

And a beautiful sunset.
